From Porn to Praise

Thu, Feb 25 2010 - 16:04 PM

Wayne C. Lewis was a producer of pornography. He spent most of his time behind the camera, but not all of it. Some Christians think that they're able to tell which people are "close to being saved". Usually those are the people who are already trying to live a life that the rest of society finds respectable...you know, being polite, working hard, loving your family, mowing your lawn, and not torturing animals. It comes as a surprise to some that it's often those who are farthest from a life co...

The Hypocrisy of Porn

Wed, Jun 18 2008 - 13:04 PM

Try this thought on for size:In most places in the world, paying for sex is illegal. However: paying someone to have sex on camera, making millions of copies of the video, and selling it all over the world isn't. What's the difference? Does the presence of a camera somehow make an illegal act legal? The phrase "double standard" comes to mind. What do you think?...

Online Christian Dating...by Penthouse

Sat, May 17 2008 - 16:45 PM

Though most web users might not know it, most pornographers love Christians. Our naivete allows them to make a lot of money. What do I mean? Here's one example: let's say that Bob's startup internet ministry, www.churchlovers.site, isn't working very well. He's getting some traffic to his site, but he decides to do something else for God. What does he do with his domain name? He lets it expire, of course...he doesn't need it anymore. Bill is a pornographer looking to make a living. He looks for e...

Hookers for Jesus

Mon, Apr 21 2008 - 23:58 PM

Annie Lobert is, in my opinion, a courageous woman. Not only is she publicizing the fact that she used to be a hooker, she's taking the gospel to thousands of men and women. She runs Hookers for Jesus, a ministry that helps people leave the sex industry. If you're not familiar with her story, you might want to read it now. It's rare that we get a lights-on glimpse into that world. This was incredible! I never knew this...that God loved me...because NO ONE ever told me these wonderful words before...

Sheena Lynn Leaves Porn!

Thu, Apr 17 2008 - 10:53 AM

A victimless crime. That's what some people think about pornography: as long as everyone's a consenting adult, nobody gets hurt...right? Wrong. There's no such thing as a victimless crime. But, some might say, making and viewing porn isn't a crime. Why am I talking about a legal activity like it's illegal? Simple: because this "victimless crime" is built on actual crimes, with far too many victims. Time and time again, those who come out of porn talk about childhood sexual abuse (a crime), explo...

The Pussycat Preacher

Sat, Feb 16 2008 - 12:06 PM

Porn stars and strippers need to know how much God loves them...and chances are good that they won't be hearing it from their co-workers. That means that you and I and other Christians have to reach out to them.Apparently, the idea of reaching out to them has caused some Christians to criticize other Christians. I'm not going to name names, but I'll say this: a Christian teacher that I respect thinks that what happens in the video below isn't worth the risk. A former stripper is going into strip...

A Wife Speaks Out

Thu, Feb 14 2008 - 11:30 AM

Clay Crosse is one of my favorite Christian artists. I can't count the times I've wept in the car while singing along with I Surrender All. I have a number of his albums, and love them all...so it's no surprise that this video, by Clay's wife Renee, caught my eye. I'd wondered what Clay was up to, since I hadn't seen any new music for a while. Now I know: Clay and Renee have a new ministry called Holy Homes. In their own words, here's what they do:We're simply here to offer hope to anyone who co...
